About Richard Valenzuela
Dr. Valenzuela emphasizes non-surgical options when appropriate and uses progressive surgical techniques when surgery is indicated. His experience includes outpatient shoulder and knee arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, labral reconstruction, SLAP tears, ACL and PCL injuries, multi-ligament knee injuries, cartilage procedures, meniscus repair, and patellofemoral conditions.
He earned his medical degree in Guadalajara, Mexico, and completed a research fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Puerto Rico, where he also earned a postdoctoral Master of Science in Clinical Research, followed by an orthopedic sports fellowship at Detroit Medical Center.
